I'd like to apologize to my fellow bloggers for my delay in blogging. You see, this past Tuesday my son, William IVXX, was diagnosed with strep throat! The poor bugger spent all week home tired and cranky, and Will felt equally as bad!No, really, it hasn't been a fun week! In fact I am looking forward to going to work on Monday just to resume my life and get rid of my parasitic son. He was the most pitiful thing I've seen in a long time (second to Dub-ya at one of his State of the Union addresses) - on top of the strep he also had a cold so I've dealt with a runny nose and cough to boot. I've had strep before - it's awful. It hurts so bad to even swallow your own saliva (Will spent much of the time drooling hence the pitiful part). The Amoxicillin gave him loose stools which was fun when he decided to "toot."
I think the saddest part is when he looked at me one day this week and said (as he blew a boogie bubble with his nose), "When am I gonna feel better?" That kind of stuff just breaks a mother's heart! And forget clingy - OIY! I've had pantyhose that were less clingy! It was almost like having a newborn all over!
Strep is also highly contagious so as my sick son lovingly gave me kisses mixed with drool and mucous, I lovingly thought of washing my mouth out with Purell. Somehow, by the grace of the Great Unicorn, neither Shaun nor I caught it. The thought of Shaun drooling, cranky, loose stools and clingy was enough to make me throw up in my mouth (just a little).
Thankfully Will is starting to come back to his old self - I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. Like the song says, "I can see clearly now the strep is gone........."
P.S. No, that is not Will's mouth (but it did look very similar!)

I'm in tears - precious!!!
He was so cute tonight with a little red ring of chapped, red skin around his mouth and nose....it was like a misplaced halo.
I love that kid!
Oh that stinks! I am so scared of not knowing what to do when kids get sick. I had my nephew (who was 5 at the time) at my house for a weekend and I was scared to death because he had a fever and I gave him medicine and I was worried about an allergic reaction- I was up all night watching him! I give so much credit to moms- I hope I can be as wise as you guys when my time comes.
Thank you GREAT UNICORN!
The sad thing was he couldn't suck his thumb (sad for him) b/c of his throat and stuffy nose. Elly was in the picture, but she wasn't getting her usual lovin'.
He's now back full force and making up lost time!!
On the day I left for TX, Jerms got the dreaded call from daycare: Amaya has an ear infection and conjuntivitis. Poor thing (Jermaine)...
sorry to hear about your boy :-( i guess he's on that nasty pink stuff they try to pass off as "bubble gum" flavored? all too famaliar with that!! :-P
hope you and shaun are able to avoid the germs!!
